Happy Clients!

Donny Buckingham was Montclair Country Club's 2009 & 2010 men's player of the year. Donny started working exclusively with Vince at the academy in 2008 and has improved his consistency and shotmaking to become the best player at his club!

Vince has been my instructor for three years now. Prior to meeting him I was a 6 handicap with a nice swing (to the naked eye). I was happy with my game but was looking for more.

Vince's ability to teach me in a language that worked for me and the resources of Powerline Golf Academy has proved to be an invaluable part of my success. He has helped me to win numerous tournaments and succeed as our club's Player of the Year. He has helped me believe that I can be the golfer that I hope to be.

Thanks Vince,

Donny Buckingham

“Having once played competitive golf and then being forced to spend quite sometime away from it, Vince has been critical in getting my game back into the competitive shape it is today. I have had the pleasure of working with Vince for 5 or 6 years and he has not only been a major factor in the resurgence of my game, but also in the fine tuning and progression of my golf swing.

Vince is a patient and very skilled teacher with a keen eye and superior understanding of the mechanics of golf. During his lessons, he has demonstrated the rare ability to isolate the most minor faults in swing mechanics, and most importantly, find the words and images to enable me to understand what was happening and how best for me to fix it. He has a unique ability to deliver the same information to his students in many different ways. I find this an extremely valuable trait in a teacher as I am not only a visual learner, but also look to isolate some type mental or physical key to overcome/transform a swing mechanics change.

Vince’s passion for the game is contagious, and his lessons never fail to be both fun and productive. You always leave a lesson with something to work on that is positive and improves your game. If I ever find myself falling into a bad habit or just simply want a mechanics checkup, Vince is the only one I trust my game and swing too."

"I am writing this testimonial to tell you about my recent accomplishment. I won my first singles title in an organized golf tournament. I won the Palmer Flight (4.0-7.9 Handicap) on the Golf Channel Amateur Tour Event held at The Golden Eagle Golf Club in Irvington, VA. The event was a 36 hole Stableford scoring event. It was 110 degrees in the shade but my swing was grooved and my putter was hotter than the air. I have won quite a few tournaments/scrambles with teammates but there is a special feeling when you know you went out on a planned date and posted a score to beat the other 15 guys in your flight. I shot 78-77 for the 2 rounds and had 4 birdies and only 2 double bogeys all day. I hit half the greens and averaged 2.02 putts per GIR. Not mind-blowing but the greens were quick and the pins were cut in some tough spots.

I want to thank you for everything we have accomplished with my game over the years together and especially the past 3 years. Once I had the time to dedicate to golf and lessons things started to change with the short game which really got my scores down. The pitch shots, chip shots, flops, putting and bunker play allowed me to get up and down for par approximately 6-8 times during these 2 rounds. My confidence was so high that when I missed a green right or left I knew it was as easy as chipping it close and 1 putting. I only remember a couple bad swings and that was when I was trying to hit a cut with my driver. Other than that I was able to hit it where I needed to to stay out of trouble and pitch it close to save par most of the time. Because I hadn't played the course before I had to review each hole prior to making any swing and plan out my course management one hole at a time. Obviously, my Skycaddie came in handy with the fairway bunker distances and knowing where to play to have the optimal chance to make pars.

Once again I want to thank you for all you do for me as my instructor and friend. I look forward to more hardware along the way. Below is an article from the Golf Channel about my flight at the tournament. I also plan to send you a photo of myself and the trophy."

Palmer Flight Results First year player Bruce Herdt seemed to like the heat as he posted his first tournament win of the season giving notice that he will be a player to be contended with as the season moves on. Two outstanding rounds that saw only 2 holes with no points. Hitting 50% of the greens in regulation with a GIR putting average of 2.02 gave Bruce the steady play he needed. Jim Davidson finished second after making an afternoon charge with 32 points, but had started the round 3 points behind and couldn’t overcome the deficit.
